Normal Work Schedule: Varies; 12-hour shift (nights) from 6:15pm to 6:15am. Hours worked will also include working overtime, mandatory events, weekends, and holidays.
Job Summary: The Security Resources Assistant I provides security services to the University community by monitoring, receiving, processing, and responding to information dealing with physical security access control and safety issues under close supervision.
Additional Department Summary: Serves as a representative of The University of Alabama, demonstrating excellent customer service while ensuring the safety and security of the campus community. Provides exceptional safety assistance to the University community and visitors. Performs foot patrols. Secures and locks University facilities. Responds to alarms. Processes non-emergency assistance requests. Staffs the central monitoring station, Bryant Dorm, and the Strip Precinct. Monitors and operates video surveillance systems, alarm systems, and communication platforms. Maintains detailed logs and records of daily activities. Engages with all members of the campus community and visitors in a courteous, helpful, and professional manner, fostering a welcoming and secure environment.
Required Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or GED and some work experience.
Additional Required Department Minimum Qualifications: Upon a conditional job offer, the applicant must submit to and successfully complete department-required screenings, including a psychological assessment.
Final candidates must submit to and successfully pass a post-offer drug screening.
Must have a valid U.S. driver's license. Must be at least 19 years of age at the time of hire and have an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report that is in compliance with University policies. Applicants under the age of 21 will have some driving restrictions.
Position requires the ability to work 12-hour shifts with a rotating weekly pattern. Additionally, must be able to work extended hours, mandatory events like Alabama Football games, weekends, and holidays, and overtime as needed. Must be able to perform extended foot patrols, including walking and climbing stairs, indoors and outdoors, in all weather conditions. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. on an occasional basis. Must meet regular attendance and punctuality requirements. Must accomplish the essential functions, with or without reasonable accommodations, in a timely manner. May drive UA vehicle as needed. Closely observes and adheres to all safety rules and regulations as listed on product and equipment labels and as directed by management.

Preferred Qualifications: Experience in customer service, dispatch, security, law enforcement, or call-center operations in high-volume environments.
