Pay Grade/Pay Range:  Minimum: $16.63 - Midpoint: $19.95 (Hourly N3)


Department/Organization: 214241 - Computer Science


Normal Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00am to 4:45pm


Job Summary: The Purchasing Assistant aides in procurement-related activities at the college or University level.


Additional Department Summary: Serves in a variety of roles for the Computer Science department. Purchases and processes payments. Coordinates large projects involving participants from across the state. Works with student schedules. Reserves room for prospective students. Assigns and coordinates all classrooms needed each term. Sets up travel for all faculty and students.


Required Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or GED.


Skills and Knowledge: Knowledge in the usage of personal computers and standard application software (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel). Good organizational and public relations skills. Punctual and reliable. Excellent communication skills and customer friendly service. Efficient and accurate computer and data entry skills. Ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic setting. Ability to research and prepare comprehensive reports. Ability to work at a rapid pace with numerous interruptions. Ability to cope with stressful conditions. Demonstrated tact, versatility, and adaptability skills. Ability to multi-task in a high paced environment. High degree of self-motivation and directional initiative within a team environment.


Preferred Qualifications: Experience with UA operating software programs. Experience entering class/course schedules in Banner and assigning classrooms in Astra. Experience with budgetary and purchasing, which includes balancing department accounts, reconciling credit card statements in Concur, and processing purchase orders in buyBAMA.
