Job Summary: The Nutritionist develops and coordinates optimal nutritional services for individuals and groups. Provides individual and group nutrition counseling and education.
Additional Department Summary: Provides medical nutrition therapy (MNT) for individuals, and nutritional education diabetes education for groups. Serves as a member of the University Medical Center clinical team. Partners with team physicians, athletic trainers, and coaches to provide consultation, education, and nutrition therapy for various UA athletic programs (non-D1) as directed. May also assist with development, evaluation, and implementation of nutrition education programs for clinical learners at the College of Community Health Sciences (CCHS).
Required Department Minimum Qualifications: Master’s Degree or higher in Nutrition and one (1) year of direct patient care experience. Current/valid registration with the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR), and active license as a Registered Dietitian in the state of Alabama OR the ability to obtain a license within six (6) months of employment.
Final candidates must submit to and successfully pass a post-offer drug screen.

Skills in exercising initiative, judgment, problem-solving, decision-making, and strategic planning. Proficient in the use of personal computers, standard application software, and electronic health record systems. Excellent organizational and effective written and verbal communication skills. Excellent customer service skills. Ability to communicate with respect and sensitivity to patients. Ability to demonstrate tact, versatility, adaptability, and creativity in handling multiple tasks or projects effectively. Ability to demonstrate a high degree of self-motivation and directional initiative. Ability to recognize and maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
