Normal Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00am to 4:45pm


Job Summary: The Director of Education Clinical Experiences provides vision and leadership for the Office of Clinical Experiences within the College of Education. Oversees the placement of undergraduate students, alternative certification program students, and graduate students with P-12 school partners and other employers for the purpose of enhancing classroom studies and providing students with experience directly related to their academic majors. Works extensively with school district administrators, principals, and other P-12 partners to establish and maintain positive school-university relationships and provide high-quality placements for education candidates. Secures preservice observation, practicum, and student teaching placements.


Additional Department Summary: Reports to the Associate Dean of Student Services and Certification. Provides vision and leadership for the Office of Clinical Experiences within the College of Education. Required Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree and eight (8) years of student services, career services, or P-12 experience; OR master’s degree and six (6) years of student services, career services, or P-12 experience.


Additional Required Department Minimum Qualifications: Must have valid U.S. driver's license. Must be at least 19 years of age at time of hire and have an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report that is in compliance with University policies. Applicants under the age of 21 will have some driving restrictions.


Skills and Knowledge: Effective written and verbal communication skills, appropriate to both internal and external constituents. Ability to maintain professional relationships. Ability to deal effectively and tactfully with students, K-12 faculty and administrators, university faculty, and other internal/external constituents. Excellent organizational and detail skills combined with the ability to function effectively under high volume demands and with time sensitive processes affecting graduation and licensure. Considerable knowledge of initial and advanced teacher education licensure preparation programs, specifically in relation to coordination of clinical field placements.


Preferred Qualifications: Master's degree in education or a related field of study. Prior working experience as a teacher in P-12 schools.
