Job Summary: The Tutor provides assistance in subjects as needed. Pay is dependent on subject matter and teaching experience.
Additional Department Summary: The Athletic Tutor position requires sufficient academic knowledge of college undergraduate courses in one or more areas, including but not limited to Business, Computer Science, Engineering, English, Foreign Language, Humanities, Social Science, Math, and Natural Science. The applicant must be able to tutor/teach course content, and guide students in meeting academic deadlines. Tutors will assist in the development of general study, planning, and time-management skills. All tutors must be able to review, discuss, and explain course material in a clear, effective, and creative manner, as well as conduct test review sessions. The applicant must be willing and able to assist a variety of students including entering freshmen, continuing, and international students. Hourly compensation is commensurate with educational background and prior teaching/tutoring experience. Experience as High School Teacher or College Instructor/GTA preferred.
Required Minimum Qualifications: Bachelors degree and expertise in subject to be tutored, OR a native speaker in foreign language where training assistance is needed.
Additional Required Department Minimum Qualifications: Must have good interpersonal and communication skills. Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree required. Minimum of two nights of availability (6:30pm-9:30pm).
Preferred Qualifications: Advance degree preferred. Prior college teaching experience highly desirable. Experienced grade school teacher or school counselor also desirable.
