Job Summary: The Alabama Entrepreneurship Institute Program Manager assists with the management of and conducts business development work for several Alabama Entrepreneurship Institute (AEI) and The Edge programs. Meets with potential members. Brings in new sponsors. Helps execute and manage the program deliverables. Manages the day-to-day operations of AEI and The Edge in the absence of the Executive Director.
Additional Department Summary: Helps manage and conduct business development work for several Alabama Entrepreneurship Institute (AEI) and The Edge programs. Meets with potential members. Brings in new sponsors. Helps execute and manage the program deliverables. A common theme in these programs is that they are community facing; the work also is at the intersection of research and practice. Reports to the Executive Director AEI. Must be able to work and be available by email or phone during weekends and non-traditional work hours due to involvement in events and managing a facility that operates 24x7.
Required Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and four (4) years of business or consulting experience in entrepreneurship; OR master's degree and two (2) years of business or consulting experience in entrepreneurship; OR doctoral degree and some business or consulting experience in entrepreneurship.
Additional Required Department Minimum Qualifications: Must have valid U.S. driver's license. Must be at least 19 years of age at time of hire and have an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report that is in compliance with University policies. Applicants under the age of 21 will have some driving restrictions.
Skills and Knowledge: Effective verbal and written communication skills are required to establish a rapport with the small business community and senior executives in larger organizations, promote the Institute’s services, and be an effective consultant. Knowledge of project management. Familiarity with computers and computer applications as well as the use of project management tools. Effective public speaking skills and ability to present new ideas and information to students and company executives. In-state travel and some out-of-state travel needed. It is important that the person in this role can work in an agile, high-change entrepreneurial environment.
Preferred Qualifications: Doctoral degree with an emphasis in entrepreneurship.
