Job Summary: The Postdoctoral Fellow provides for an internship and continuation of scholarly activity and research after achieving the PhD or other doctoral degree under the direction of a senior faculty member who serves as a mentor for the postdoctoral appointee.


Additional Department Summary: A Postdoctoral Fellow with research interests and experience in the areas of power electronics, controls systems, and battery management systems will work under the direction of Dr. Jaber Abu Qahouq. Individuals with applied experience in developing, testing, and demonstrating power electronic systems hardware are highly desired.

Successful candidates will hold a Ph.D. degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering or a related field and demonstrate a record of academic achievement in research. The College and/or the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department will establish a series of structured merit-based evaluations. Initial appointments are for one year, with renewal contingent upon demonstration of productivity, meeting project requirements and deadlines, and availability of funding.


Required Minimum Qualifications: Doctorate. Additional qualifications based on assignment.


Additional Required Department Minimum Qualifications: Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering or related field.


Skills and Knowledge: Knowledge in the areas of power electronics, controls systems, and battery management systems with applied experience in developing, testing, and demonstrating power electronic systems hardware.


Preferred Qualifications: Development of power converters each with power levels that exceed 10 kW and/or voltages of up to 1000 V, advanced control of power electronic systems, analog-digital mixed embedded power controllers for power electronic systems, electric vehicles fast chargers, and/or Lithium-Ion battery energy storage systems management and health.
