Job Summary: Under the direction of a senior faculty member who serves as a mentor for the postdoctoral appointee, The Postdoctoral Fellow provides for an internship and continuation of scholarly activity and research after achieving the Ph.D. or other doctoral degree.


Additional Department Summary: Postdoctoral positions are available at The University of Alabama to individuals with research interests. Individuals holding these positions are to conduct research with various faculty members on a variety of projects.

The Civil, Construction, and Environmental Engineering Department seeks applications for a Postdoctoral position. Successful candidates will hold terminal degrees and demonstrate a record of academic achievement in a research area or areas covered by the College. The College and or hiring department will establish a series of structured merit-based evaluations. Initial appointments are for one year, with renewal contingent upon demonstration of research productivity.

The duties for this position will include data analytics and machine learning to understand and predict groundwater water flow across the hydrologic continuum.


Required Department Minimum Qualifications: Ph.D. or other terminal degree in Civil Engineering, Hydrology, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Data Analytics or other related fields.

Skills and Knowledge: Superlative ability to articulate research objectives and hypotheses, and ability to work as part of a team. Excellent analytical ability and in-depth experience with at least one programming language.
