Job Summary: The IT Technical Specialist IV performs advanced IT activities for specialized, complex and/or functional areas requiring the expert knowledge and professional application of IT principles, practices and techniques in accordance with industry standards and university policy. Requires a great amount of evaluation, originality or ingenuity. May be responsible for training, assisting or supervising lower level IT personnel and other staff. May lead projects and cross-functional activities.


Additional Department Summary: Position has responsibilities for supporting the maintenance of a CRM product and leading data integration among software systems for The University of Alabama’s Enrollment Management area. This position is responsible for the creation, enhancement, and troubleshooting of web forms that interact with the CRM using HTML, CSS, and Javascript. Additional responsibilities include technical automation of marketing communication plans, maintenance of the technology for email flow for interactions with current and prospective students, data imports/exports, data integrity and account administration. The position is also responsible for establishing business logic rules, designing interfaces and evaluating changes within the CRM to meet the needs of internal and external customers. This position is also responsible for designing, managing and maintaining reports both within the CRM and other internal and external systems. In addition to CRM duties, this position is responsible for supporting the use of multiple applications used by Enrollment Management, including Argos, OnBase, APPWORX (or their equivalents) and custom web forms and applications.

The candidate must possess sophisticated technical skills and abilities as well as the capacity to understand the business needs of Enrollment Management as well as external customers. Candidate must keep abreast of the latest technology and demonstrate an ability to recommend changes to make certain Enrollment Management is improving systems and processes while adhering to UA standards. Candidate must be able to manage multiple projects/assignments and anticipate project needs and timelines. This position must have the ability to develop and maintain relationships and partnerships with UA personnel as well as others outside UA. The position will be responsible for consulting, determining projects, scoping of projects, setting project expectations, monitoring project progress and evaluating project results.


Required Minimum Qualifications: Master's degree and one (1) year of IT experience; OR Bachelor's degree and three (3) years of IT experience; OR Associate’s degree and five (5) years of IT experience; OR High School Diploma or GED and seven (7) years of IT experience. Knowledge of advanced programming, networking, system, multimedia, instructional or security technology skills or knowledge of project management methods and applications. May require advanced level training or certification.


Skills and Knowledge: Demonstrated success using technology to improve processes. The position requires advanced technical expertise in IT especially in the area of HTML and CSS, Javascript, SQL Server, SQL Server Integration Services, Oracle, C#, ASP.NET/MVC, Visual Studio, and AJAX. The position requires creative thinking in design and implementation of new systems, integration between systems, enhancing functionality of current systems and evaluating future technology options. Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment and meet client needs. Ability to prioritize requests and communicate with clients.


Preferred Qualifications: Microsoft Certified Solutions Developer (MCSD) or Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE). Experience working with enterprise-level Customer Relationship Management (CRM) products such as Slate, Talisma, Salesforce or equivalent. Experience working with enterprise Student Information Systems such as Banner. Experience working with reporting tools such as Argos. Oracle and/or Toad experience.
